Federal funding announced for new drug project

A project led by co-investigators Drs Tarek Saleh and Bobby Khan has received funding from the federal Atlantic Innovation Fund to take UPEI 100, a promising new drug for stroke, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis, to phase II clinical trials. The Hon. Gail Shea, Minister of National Revenue, announced the funding on PEI in late May. Dr. Saleh is chair of AVC’s Department of Biomedical Sciences, and Dr. Khan is an adjunct faculty member in that department.
