AVC’s Dr. Laurie McDuffee and her expertise in regenerative medicine were the subject of a recent TSN profile. Dr. McDuffee was featured for her efforts to advance the science behind bone, tendon and ligament healing in horses. Dr. McDuffee’s current research focuses on equine patients but she hopes to transfer her knowledge in cell-based therapies to companion animals and, potentially, humans. Nine of AVC's veterinary students participated in the Summer Research and Leadership Program throughout the summer. Students met weekly for lectures pertaining to careers in research including government, industry, and academia. Additional lectures were provided to help improve presentation skills and scientific writing. Completion of the course included each of the students delivering an oral and poster presentation.

One of the Atlantic Centre for Comparative Biomedical Research’s (ACCBR) newest pieces of equipment, the Leica ASP 300S tissue processor, is working double time.
