Giving

It is the generosity of owners that enables us to realize our greatest potential and make a true difference.

We need animals and animals need us! In giving to Atlantic Veterinary College, you are ensuring animals facing the greatest of challenges and fighting the worst of illnesses are provided with the best possible care and treatment. Your support enables outstanding care. It also enables research to benefit the health and welfare of animals, and an outstanding education for veterinarians in training who have committed their lives to caring for them.

Every gift makes a difference. Through your gift, you can recognize how Atlantic Veterinary College has impacted your life, remember a pet through a memorial, or honour a clinician or student who went the extra mile in caring for your annimal companion. Your generosity can have a lasting impact on our College in a way that is meaningful to you.

A veterinary school such as the Atlantic Veterinary College requires qualified and dedicated personnel, state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and generous people like you who understand the role veterinary medicine plays in bettering our society. While our needs are widespread, some of our priorities include:

  • The growth of AVC
  • Educating the veterinarians of tomorrow
  • Capital equipment for our hospital and labs

Gifts in Memory of Animals

We all know the impact animals can have on our lives. When choosing to give to AVC, you may wish to give in memory or in honour of an animal that has touched your life.  Here is a list of some of the special animals remembered and honoured at AVC over the past year.

Naming Opportunities

<< Following a memorial concert for the late musician Doug Riley, Jan Riley, his wife, donated the proceeds to AVC's Veterinary Teaching Hospital and he was recognized through the establishment and naming of the Doug Riley Family Consultation Room. "We are very proud to have this room named after Doug. AVC has a special place in Doug's heart and he would have been thrilled to know he is now part of it," says Jan Riley. >>

An array of options are available to donors interested in naming opportunities or sponsoring spaces at AVC. Naming opportunities include teaching spaces, research units, or specific area within our teaching hospital. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss an area of our college which you might be interested in naming or sponsoring.

Planned Giving

Planning to give to AVC in the future is as important as a gift today. Your planned gift will ensure that the future dreams of our school are realized.

Educating the veterinarians of tomorrow

Awards & Scholarships

<<”In October 2003, our dog, Baron, was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma and referred to the Atlantic Veterinary College for further tests and treatment. Over the course of three months, staff at AVC’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital worked hard to provide Baron with the best possible quality of life,” say Brian and Sherry Pound. To recognize the care Baron received while a patient at AVC, and the compassion exhibited to their family, the Pounds established and endowed The Baron Pound Award in memory of Baron. >>

AVC is dedicated to educating veterinary and community leaders committed to animal health, human health, public health and environmental issues of global importance. Education in veterinary medicine is a costly undertaking for students. Awards and scholarships not only recognize academic excellence but also assist in minimizing student debt. Keeping student debt low also encourages students to move on into specialized areas of study, ensuring the needs of the veterinary profession and society are met.
